A standard brass band is made up of 25 brass players and 3 percussionists. You are fortunate enough to be able to meet each of our players by clicking on each individual sections in the menu on the right hand side..

The Cornet Section
Principal cornet is the ensembles primary soloist and the solo cornet will generally have the melodic line in brass ensemble music. The back row offer chordal and rhythmic accompaniment to the ensemble and the soprano cornet is the highest pitched instrument in the band.
The Horn Section
The horn section will often be found at the heart of all chordal writing and a driving force in all rhythmic or syncopated sequences. The Solo Horn will frequently take melodic and solo lines
The Euphoniums & Baritones
The euphoniums are the primary melodic lines after the principal and front row cornets and have a wonderfully rich sound. The baritones are often linked to the horns for rhythmic and chordal purposes.
The Trombone Section
Much like orchestral writing, the trombones are primarily used to add different tonal colour to pieces, especially louder items . The will often be used as a complete chord and frequently feature as a trio.
The Bass Section
The bass section are the tonal and chordal foundations of the band and while they are rarely found taking melodic lines, are fundemental in the sound of a band.
The Percussion Section
The percussion section are the rhythm, or the heartbeat of the ensemble, also adding tuned percussion including xylophone, marimba, timpani or any other pots and pans they can lay their hands on.
